2018 Day Camp Information

Send your child to one of our three camps this summer and give them a summer experience to remember! Campers will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of activities including arts and crafts, physical fitness, sport skills, swimming, outdoor education and games. We offer various enrollment options so working and non-working parents can design a schedule that works best for them.

DAYS and DATES:   Monday – Friday
June 25 – August 10 (Dates could change based on school calendar)
TIMES:                      9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.:   Regular Camp Day            
                                         (Reduced rate for those campers not needing extended day hours)
                                 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.: Extended Camp Day
                                        (Extended hours provide supervised, unstructured play)
* Regular Camp Day9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Campers will arrive between 8:45 - 9:00 a.m. (just in time for all of the programs, special events and field trips to begin) and will need to be picked up between 4:00 – 4:15 p.m. This option is offered at a reduced rate.
* Extended Day: Campers can arrive as early as 7:00 a.m. and can remain at camp until 5:30 p.m., with supervised, unstructured activities during the extended hours.
* Weekly Rate: Looking for a change from the typical summer routine? Consider signing  your child(ren) up for one-week time slots; note that this rate is designed for people sending their children for 4 weeks or less.
* 3 Day/Week Option (M, W, F)   or 2 Day/Week Option (T,Th)– Each option provides attendance on one of the weekly field trips that take place on Tuesdays or Fridays. 

* Enrichment Programs – Add-ons to the regular camp day will be available throughout the summer, including one-time excursions or weekly activities. Past enrichment programs have included cycling, swimming lessons, and movement workshops. All enrichment program fees are in addition to the cost of attending camp.

* Senior Camper Program for 14 year old teens: This program is designed for teens who will be 14 as of October 15 to develop leadership skills and gain hands-on experience as a leader. This program is a great “next step” for any camper interested in becoming a Windham Parks and Recreation camp counselor! Senior Campers can expect to participate in team-building activities, community service, and program planning along with many of the other traditional camp activities. Campers choosing to participate in this program will pay discounted rates and will need to attend a Senior Camper orientation night prior to the start of summer camp, as well as participate in a minimum of 80 program hours and, along with their parent, sign a Senior Camper Contract.

            There is no T-Th option for Senior Campers in order to insure their participation in some Senior Camper programs.
* CIT (Counselor in Training) Program for 15 year old teens: Would you like to spend your summer doing something that will make you feel good about yourself and help you develop life-long skills?  If you will be 15 as of June 15 and would like to volunteer your services in a leadership capacity with younger campers, then apply for one of these positions. The application will be available during the registration process or you can download one from the website. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 18 and two letters of recommendation will need to be provided with the application. Applicants will also be required to attend an interview prior to beginning the program. Anyone who is selected for a CIT position will be expected to provide 21 days (7 hrs/day) or 150 hours of service to the program for the summer. Regular progress in this position will be expected, and evaluations will be provided regularly throughout the summer. Involvement as a CIT does not guarantee future employment; however, successful participants are given first consideration for open positions.
Registration Process
  • Early Bird Registration: Want to get a jump on the process and spread your summer camp payments over a longer time period? Beginning on Monday, March 26, we will open the on-line registration process for Summer Camp Enrollment Options. You will not be able to register for any of the additional Enrichment Programs that are offered for an additional price at this time… registration for those programs will be open on Monday, April 23, at which time additional information about our Summer Field Trips will be available as well.
  • All of the Summer Camp Policies and Rules are described in detail in the Summer Camp Parent Handbook, which will be available on the website on Monday, March 26.   We strongly encourage you to read the information in the Handbook in order to make the registration process much smoother. Also, our software program enables you to register and pay on-line, or you can register, create a registration form, and send that in with your payment. You can also register in person at the Parks and Recreation Department during regular business hours.                    
  • Please note that payments in full are required by Friday, June 8. Camp payments can be made on-line, mailed or they can be brought into the Parks and Recreation office during regular business hours. If you have questions regarding your balance, please call the office at 892-1905. A payment plan is available, with a non-refundable deposit of $50 being required at time of registration.
  • Enrichment Programs are required to be paid for at registration to secure a space.
  • There is an additional registration charge for nonresidents enrolling in camp ($45/child).
  • Camp T-shirts are needed for all Friday field trips and one is included with your registration. If you wish to order an extra t-shirt for your child, you can indicate that on the Registration form and there will be an additional $8.00 charge for extra t-shirts. 
  • Scholarships are available–Contact Rene Daniel at 892-1906 for appointment by Monday, May 14, 2018.
